Lannie, I have been thinking about your article since Tuesday while watching the breaking news and updates as we travel. I wanted to give both sides a fair look as I try to understand them more deeply. It’s difficult to understand since each source is biased in one way or another. I’m thankful for reading this because it doesn’t matter who’s right, or wrong. What matters is the innocent people affected. Thanks for writing about your firsthand experience about humanity.

Great post, Lannie! Majority of the information about the conflict comes to us from the news, and as you rightfully mentioned – media is so often biased. It’s good to read about it from an eyewitness for a change!

A poignant and thought-provoking post. For me, travel blogging is about offering insights beyond the bubbles we all occupy in our day-to-day lives, sharing insights and starting conversations. I agree that it’s definitely not all about escapism! – though there’s a place for that too.

What I find so upsetting about the middle east conflict is that it is happening in the holiest and most sacred of places. Not even the convictions of 3 of the world’s great religions have the power to overcome man’s inhumanity to man. Such a sad irony.

My brother has visited Isreal and the left bank as well and felt the same thing you write about here. The heartache for generations of people who have lived behind a wall. I know there’s so much politics around this issue but when you come right down to it, we all need to live with one another. From the line in Hidden Figures, “we all pee the same color here at NASA”. Well, that’s true for all people.

Not a place we have ever thought of travelling. I love you have gone out off the beaten path and given us tbis insight. Very eye opening and I think you have done very well in explaining it. Its not something I have had to much research on if I’m honest not sure how with its regularity onbthe news. But I feel I will look further now.

Thank you for your record of your trip! We’ve been to the Westbank on our last big trip in 2019 and it was one of the most eye opening trips we’ve ever done. And you’re right: It’s incredibly hard to travel blog about. You did an amazing job!
