Wow Lannie, you touched on three of my favourite things – whisky, gin, and soapmaking! I’m not sure if you knew this, but Lagavulin was featured a few times on Parks and Recreation! We haven’t visited Islay but we did visit the Talisker distillery on the Isle of Skye many years ago, I love a good peaty whisky, it reminds me of when my husband and I walked through Fort William on a cold, rainy day and the smell of burning peat was heavy in the air. This was a great post with so much interesting information!

Actually regarding their scotches, I think Laphroaig is the peatiest. The Southern distilleries (Laphroaig, Lagavulin, and Ardbeg) are known for their peated whiskies. Maybe try a Bowmore or Kilchoman next time! if you’re looking to expand your horizons lol 🙂

In reply to Kemi. Ironically, bubbles (champagne or beer) are worse for me than a nice strong whisky! Everyone is different!! I love that you know peat from your Environmental Science major. Not many people know about that delightful decayed vegetation! hahaha
